Experimental Sound Studio is proud to present The Bridge [2.2] for a performance and live recording in the studio as a concluding event in their micro-residency. The 2.2 ensemble features Mai Sugimoto (alto saxophone), Raymond Boni (guitar), Anton Hatwich (double bass) and Paul Rogers (double bass).
FOLLOW THE LIGHT is a new work by composer Michael Zerang for string ensemble, featuring his instrument, Queequeg’s Coffin. This is his first full-length composition for ensemble that features the instrument.
Kate Joyce's Arches, Loops & Whorls includes three bodies of work made between 2007 to 2012: a series of diptychs about math and biology that combine corrupted digital image files with fingerprints from the artist's hands; silkscreen prints made from a template created by tracing the rectilinear lines in formal architectural photographs; color photographs from a two year project about the rigor and discovery of a daily practice. Each work informs the other about geometry, intuition, repetition and the underlying physical and emotional structures affecting the surfaces of things.
Founded by Jacque Harper, The Chicago Bass Ensemble features Anton Hatwich, Julian Romane, and Dan Thatcher. They will be joined for this performance by collaborators Jeff Greene and Doug Johnson.
