Option Talks Art and Music:
This program will include a short introduction to the history of Black Mountain College and BMCM+AC, as well as a preview of the exhibition I AM A CITIZEN OF THE WORLD (April 9 – August 13). Presented by BMCM+AC staff members Jeff Arnal (Executive Director), Alice Sebrell (Program Director), and Kate Averett (Outreach Manager).
The event will culminate with a collaborative music performance with visuals by composer Tyondai Braxton and artist Grace Villamil. In addition to their collaborative and solo works, recognized internationally, Braxton and Villamil were featured artists in the BMCM+AC exhibition Between Form and Content: Perspective on Jacob Lawrence and Black Mountain College, creating the immersive installation Black Mountain (2018, shown above).
Tune in on Monday, April 26th at 7pm Chicago time to hear the discussion, ask questions in the chat, and listen to what is sure to be a wonderful presentation and overview of one of the most unique colleges in the history of the United States.
The Option series is presented as part of Experimental Sound Studio’s virtual concerts every Monday. Link to this program, with the interview, below.
